I recently graduate Dean's List from Brandeis University with a BA in Public Health and African-American studies. During my time at Brandeis I was heavily involved in Jewish life, research, orientation programming, and community service initiatives. I worked with students of all ages in the local school district. After graduating I took a role at Big Brothers Big Sisters running a mentoring program for high schoolers. The program focused on building meaningful relationships with an emphasis on college and career readiness. I created programming to guide students on making college lists and thinking about areas of study. This experience emphasized the importance of relationship in building when making big decisions- like college planning. I then went on to spend the next few years working as an Admission Counselor at Brandeis University followed by Olin College of Engineering. In these roles I was able to guide prospective students and applicants though the application process and beyond. I would advise students on essay topics and the extracurriculars section, offering guidance on how to make their application represent them the best. I gained an understanding of the entire admission process from beginning to end, seeing the areas where students can shine most. This experience could be stressful for some students but continuing to communicate with one another made all the difference. I now work as a Client Success Manager at a remote software company guiding our clients on best practices and troubleshooting the product. I love being able to guide and teach people everyday and I'm excited to continue that journey here. When not working at the computer, you can find me cooking, playing tennis, reading or going for a long walk.

Hi my name is Maxx and I am a Senior Advisor based in the great city of New York! My love of teaching and experience in college admission stems from a lifelong passion to support students in realizing their educational goals. Growing up I attended Greenwich Academy, an intensive college preparatory school. There I gained a comprehensive experience in the college process that serves as the foundation for my admission work. I hold both a B.A. and B.S. from Tufts University in Spanish and Biopsychology respectively. While at Tufts I was involved in a myriad of activities including an outdoors club, a GOTV political organization, greek life, a comedy troupe, and a writing group. This breadth of experience gives me a unique insight into the different facets of campus life as well as the curricular demands for both STEM and Arts and Language majors. After graduation, I worked in the development and admissions office of University of the People, an education non-profit with over 100,000 students that focuses on accessibility to higher education. In addition to my grant writing work, I assisted students in navigating the admission process to schools such as NYU, LIU, McGill, Effat University, and Edinburgh University. My strength as a writer and work in psychology helped students find and bring unique voices to paper. It also gave me exposure and familiarity with international schools and international students. By nature, I am an outgoing, fun and passionate individual. I bring the whole of myself and my expertise to students. While this process can be at times overwhelming and intimidating, I am here to help empower students to take the driver's seat. Together we will delve deep to discover who they are and what they want from their college experiences. Through this process, I help their confidence and unique experiences shine both in and out of their application

Hi! My name is Madison, and I graduated from Swarthmore College in 2021. I majored in Psychology and also studied Studio Art, Economics, and Biology. As a first-generation low-income student, I applied to college through QuestBridge. At Swarthmore, I enjoyed tutoring K-12 students in math, competing in the Collegiate Leadership Competition, and participating in bowling club. I have extensive experience editing essays, and I am excited to help you create an application you’re proud of.

I am a current senior at Dartmouth College and will be graduating in June of 2024 with a B.S. in Neuroscience and a double minor in Global Health in Anthropology and Human Biology in the pre-medical track. I am also a proud QuestBridge Scholar and Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholar, both amazing programs that have guided, supported, and funded my undergraduate experience. In addition, in July of 2024, I will be starting medical school at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth as an early assurance MD candidate. Consequently, I have plenty of tips and hidden knowledge to share with anybody interested in these highly selective programs and scholarships, as well as the pre-health track, and would love to connect with anybody interested in exploring these opportunities and/or paths! In terms of my advising and mentorship experience, I began tutoring for regular subjects in early high school and later, during the latter half of my junior year, I tutored for the ACT and SAT. Today, I continue this work, but have also been working as a college counselor since June of 2020. Through my 5+ years of experience, I have learned to form close connections with my students as a student myself, meeting them where they are while guiding and supporting them through their college-preparation and application processes. In the past 3 years, I have worked with over 15 students in their college application process, all of which have received at least 3 college acceptances and most of which have been accepted into some of the most competitive colleges and universities in the country. While some of these students have been interested in the pre-health track, I have also worked with various students interested in law, engineering, computer science, humanities, performing arts, aviation, finance, business and entrepreneurship, and psychology. This has offered me the opportunity to become familiar with different colleges that have specialized programs as well as unique scholarships that students interested in certain academic areas can take advantage of! With my years of experience in the field in addition to my personal successes, I am knowledgeable of the curricular demands and extracurricular expectations of various disciplines. Furthermore, I have also had the privilege of working with 2 international students! Working with them helped me grasp the perspective of applying to college in the US as an international student, considering the financial, academic, lingual, and sociocultural challenges that come with being a foreigner. All in all, I am extremely passionate about mentoring and advising students who are going through what can be a very overwhelming and challenging process. I love listening to stories, asking inquisitive questions, giving constructive feedback, and forming close relationships with those I work with. Working hand in hand with both the students and their families, I hope to serve as a good resource that can answer questions, settle uncertainties, and find solutions. With these and the many more tools I have put under my belt, I help students figure out how to best express their goals based on their interests, talents, and values and guide them in effectively sharing their story - their who and why - to curate a wholesome and impressive application.

I hold a B.A. in Communication from the University of Southern California, as well as minors in Journalism and Film. While at USC, I participated in a variety of research projects, including the Media, Diversity, and Social Change Initiative (MDSCI), which has since been renamed the Inclusionists. I graduated Summa Cum Laude, with additional honors, and a GPA of 3.93. Following a year gap at work, I began studying for an Master's of Science in Global Communication from the London School of Economics and Political Science; I followed this degree with an additional Master's of Arts in Global Media from USC. During this time, I published original research and two dissertations, and volunteered in the admissions office, gaining critical experience needed to navigate the admissions process in high-performing institutions. I completed my graduate education in 2019, shortly before the pandemic, and decided to open my own college advising and academic coaching company. I have had students admitted to Ivies, Stanford, USC, all UCs, and some international schools primarily based in the UK and Europe. I regularly work with my clients not only to determine which schools would be best for their intended major, financial status, and personality, but also work closely to develop a narrative for the admission process. With my guidance, they refine this narrative in their essays, and use a template system for supplemental essays in order to maximize efficiency. My students have applied to majors from business to environmental studies, computer science to theatre, nursing to pre-law. I am an excellent writer and storyteller, with a passion for editing, and the most enjoyable part of my day is hearing from students that they have learned something new about writing during our sessions. It is a joy to work with this generation of students; they are whip-smart, hilarious, and ambitious. I love to bond with them over shared passions, get to know them through in our sessions and through their writing, and refine their skills to become the best writers, storytellers, and students they can be. Although the task of finding and applying to colleges is daunting, I believe that together, in concert with some hard work and a little humor, the process can be as fun as it is challenging.

My name is Anesha Grant, and I have over 14 years of experience working in college access and success, supporting students through the college admissions process, and ensuring success through their first year. I am a first-generation college student. I love working with students as they learn more about themselves during the college application process. I look forward to learning more about you, working with you to help you realize your college dreams, and finding the school that will be the best fit for you!

I hold a B.A. from Emory University, where I graduated summa cum laude with a double major in International Relations and Latin American and Caribbean Studies. After my undergraduate education, I served as an Admission Counselor at my alma mater for three years, recruiting exceptional prospective students and advising families about college options and the ins and outs of the application process. Additionally, I read applications and sat on the review committee for Early and Regular Decision admission and merit-based scholarships. Later, I served as an ICT Education Specialist in the United States Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic. Having fallen thoroughly in love with work in the education sector, I went on to spend over a decade as a high school English Language Arts teacher and College Counselor at an accredited bilingual school in Santo Domingo. In addition to teaching, I supported students through the college admissions process, including school selection, personal branding and storytelling, essay writing, interview prep, career exploration, and scholarship and financial aid applications. My time on both sides of the proverbial college advisor desk has given me a clear picture of the academic and extracurricular profiles needed to succeed in competitive university admissions while also reinforcing my belief that the college selection process should center around the best fit for a given student. Currently, I am enrolled as a Master of Clinical Social Work student at Boston University with the intent of further honing my capacity to offer guidance and resources to young people and their families as they build life skills, navigate major transitions, and set goals for the future. I believe that the college admissions process is not an end in itself, but rather a powerful way for students to grow in self awareness, practice lifelong learning, and develop capacities that will allow them to define and achieve success on their own terms. I am passionate about supporting students, parents, and guardians with care, humor, and curiosity–I look forward to learning about the unique experiences and gifts each applicant has to offer in college and beyond!

As a first generation, low income, mixed race, Black woman, I was accepted into the school of my dreams (an absolute reach) Tufts University through the BLAST (Bridge to Liberal Arts Success at Tufts) Scholars Program in the spring of 2013. I became a dedicated member of the Tisch Scholars for Civic Life early on which presented a space to challenge myself and further drive my ambition toward social justice.

In the academic sphere at Tufts, I gained perspective on how my passions and curiosities for the world and people's engagement within the society around them could be channeled as a form of study, building frameworks to recognize patterns in society. My course of study allowed me to align all my passions by further connecting my sociology major to the study of social inequalities embedded within patterns of society.

Daunted by the rigorous academic curriculum yet supported through a plethora of resources and opportunities, my time at Tufts, though challenging, was both life changing and life defining. Having been awarded one the highest honors in the University, The Presidential Award for Civic Life, was a testament to the community of people and peers who unconditionally upheld, uplifted, and empowered me to persevere amongst rigorous academic pursuits.

I could not have graduated from Tufts University without the resources and support systems I had access to, and upon graduating in 2017, I eagerly joined the Americorps Service Program, The College Advising Corps at Boston University (CAC-BU), where I served at an International Baccalaureate (IB) school in Boston, MA.

During my two years of service with CAC-BU I received over 600 hours of college advising training engaging with all aspects of the college application and matriculation process. We received in depth training for leaders across higher education in the East Coast region, gaining perspective on admissions trends across the country.

In my IB school placement, I managed a caseload of 100+ upperclassmen, providing both individual and group advising by teaching the 11th and 12th grade advisory classes and coordinating and leading more than 20 college campus visits per year. In my second year of service I took on a more direct leadership role on the program development side of CAC-BU as the chair of the Adviser Training Committee. In this role, I facilitated 15 college adviser workshops and was selected to give a presentation on near peer advising with vulnerable student populations during the College Advising Corps national conference.

I continued to work for the school and the Boston Public Schools District, until June 2020, when I relocated to my current location in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I have continued providing college advising support in different capacities and now work at a racial and gender equity centered non-profit organization.

I believe the college admissions process can be an opportunity for self-discovery and reflection. I've worked with hundreds of students who are the first in their families to go to college and didn't have a ton of resources, so making this process as simple and supportive as possible is one of my passions. I attended Rice University in Houston, Texas, and graduated magna cum laude and phi betta kappa. I majored in anthropology and have a love for working with students of different backgrounds. I also want to make sure that students choose an affordable school that is a great fit for them. I have a special love of writing and was a former English teacher, so can help you make your essays strong. As such, I am a member of CollegeAdvisor's Essay Review Team.
