Jessica Strawn
James Madison University
I graduated from James Madison University in Virginia with a B.A. in history in 2013. Before going to graduate school, I worked at the Notarial Archives in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is the only archive devoted to notarial records and land deeds in the entire country since Louisiana is the only state in the U.S. to function under civil law rather than common law. The archive also housed architectural drawings which inspired me to pursue historic preservation at the graduate level at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I missed New Orleans and later attended the University of New Orleans (UNO) for a graduate degree in history. While attending school at UNO, I began working on Freedom on the Move with Cornell University and continue to work on the project from my home in New Orleans.

Buse Balik

My experience with CollegeAdvisor was amazing. My advisor, Carolyn was the best. She helped me with everything about the application process and helped me keep everything organized. I can say it lifted a lot of weight off my shoulders because she was very good at guiding me through the application process.
