Hamilton College Acceptance Rate

Acceptance Rate 14%
Acceptance Deadline January 5

The Hamilton acceptance rate for the class of 2025 was just 14.1%. That means fewer than 15 out of 100 hopeful applicants overcame the Hamilton College acceptance rate, earning a Hamilton College admissions offer.

The Hamilton acceptance rate is less selective than that of most Ivy League schools, which typically have single-digit acceptance rates. However, the Hamilton College acceptance rate is lower than other colleges that rank similarly, such as Haverford College or Smith College. Remember, acceptance rates vary, even between similar schools. So, you would do well to base your college list around schools with a variety of acceptance rates.

Demystifying College Acceptance Rates

College acceptance rates can be a confusing part of the college admissions process. What do those percentages mean, and how might they impact your application? While college acceptance rates might not seem to tell you much, they can play a crucial role as you build your college list.

College acceptance rates depend on a number of factors. These include the number of applicants in a given year, the number of spots available for new students, the college’s standardizing testing policy or standards, any GPA requirements, and the school’s overall admissions process. Because of these factors, a strong candidate at one school may not be what another school desires. In other words, just because you’re accepted into one school with a low acceptance rate does not mean you will gain college acceptance to every school with a similar acceptance rate.

We know that college acceptance rates can seem daunting. However, don’t let college acceptance rates overwhelm you. Instead, think of them as a set of guiding statistics. Acceptance rates can help you craft your college list and determine which schools may be a good fit for you.

Hamilton College Admissions

As we mentioned, the Hamilton acceptance rate, like all college acceptance rates, depends on many varying factors. As such, the Hamilton College admissions process plays an important role in the selectivity of the acceptance rate. The Hamilton College admissions website promises: “There is no one Hamilton student just as there is no one Hamilton experience.” Hamilton looks for many  different types of students; no one applicant is guaranteed to overcome the low Hamilton College acceptance rate. Instead, each student must convince the Hamilton College admissions team of their overall value to the school community.

The Hamilton acceptance rate also depends on some quantitative aspects of the applications Hamilton College admissions receives. Although there is no official Hamilton College GPA requirement, 80% of accepted students ranked in the top ten at their high school. Furthermore, there are no requirements to submit Hamilton College SAT or ACT scores. However, if you have strong test scores, you may consider submitting your Hamilton College SAT or ACT scores. This may help you succeed in the Hamilton admissions process given the low Hamilton acceptance rate.

As you can see, many factors contribute to the Hamilton College admissions process and Hamilton acceptance rate. You’ll want to be mindful of your Hamilton College GPA and Hamilton College SAT scores as you begin your application.

Although the Hamilton acceptance rate is low, don’t be discouraged. With high grades and strong essays, you can succeed in the Hamilton admissions process despite the low Hamilton College acceptance rate.

I have specifically advised students going through the Questbridge application process. Questbridge is a non-profit organization that aims to provide full-ride scholarships to low-income, high-achieving students. Specifically, Questbridge aims to provide students with the opportunity to attend prestigious universities and colleges across the country. As a Questbridge scholar myself, I am very knowledgeable about the application and admissions process. I have also advised students applying to schools through the common app. I applied to over fifteen universities for undergrad and underwent several college interviews. I'm very familiar with the college admissions process and am currently a double STEM major in my third year of undergrad.

I am an international student from Nairobi, Kenya, who embarked on an academic journey at the Claremont Colleges in California. My undergraduate pursuit led me to Biochemistry, with a strong focus on premed and leadership studies, until a pivotal moment during my senior year when I decided to shift my focus toward Cosmetic Chemistry combined with Marketing—a unique trajectory I aim to pursue at the graduate degree level. In addition to my academic journey, I have actively contributed to the field of college advising. Working and interning at a college advising firm in Nairobi, I have played a pivotal role in guiding fellow students through the intricate process of applying to international schools and navigating the complexities of securing financial aid. My distinct perspective as an international student has provided invaluable insights to assist others in achieving their educational aspirations.
